Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Welcome to Circle! This document explains our Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. By creating an account and using the Circle mobile application (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.

1. Terms of Service

a. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account on Circle and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

b. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (e.g., Google Sign-In) and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

c. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Post or share content that is illegal, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, pornographic, or incites violence.
  • Harass, bully, or intimidate any other user.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.
  • Post spam, unsolicited commercial communications, or links to malicious websites.
  • Violate any applicable local, national, or international law.

We reserve the right to remove any content and terminate accounts that violate these rules, without notice.

d. Content Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to the content you post on Circle (e.g., your confessions, photos, and circle posts). However, by posting content, you grant Circle a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute your content in connection with operating and providing the Service.

e. Monetization and In-App Currency

Circle is a free app that displays ads via Google AdMob. The app also features a virtual currency ("Roses"). Roses may be earned through in-app actions (like watching ads) or purchased. Roses have no real-world monetary value and cannot be redeemed for cash. All purchases of virtual items are final and non-refundable.

f. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach the Terms. You can terminate your account at any time from the app's settings screen.

2. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us. This policy outlines what information we collect and how we use it.

a. Information We Collect

  • Information You Provide: When you register, we collect your date of birth, and upon profile creation, your alias, gender, city, photos, and any other profile information you choose to provide (interests, bio, etc.). We also collect content you generate, such as posts, comments, and messages.
  • Authentication Information: We use Firebase Authentication. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account as permitted by you during the sign-in process (e.g., your name and email address, which are used for authentication purposes).
  • Usage Data: We automatically collect information about your interactions with the Service, such as likes, matches, and app activity. This is done to operate and improve the app.

b. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Circle app.
  • Show your profile to other users and show their profiles to you.
  • Facilitate interactions between users (e.g., matches, chats, circles).
  • Personalize your experience.
  • Display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob.
  • Communicate with you, including for support purposes.
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent prohibited activities.

c. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information in the following ways:

  • With Other Users: Your public profile information (alias, photos, interests, etc.) is visible to other users of the Service.
  • With Service Providers: We use third-party services like Google Firebase (for backend, database, storage, authentication) and Google AdMob (for ads). These services have their own privacy policies and only process your data on our behalf to provide the Service.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

d. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google's Firebase platform. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our database, nor can we guarantee that information you supply won't be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet.

e. Your Choices and Rights

You can review and update your profile information at any time from within the app. You can also delete your account from the settings screen. Deleting your account will permanently remove your profile and associated content from our active systems, though some data may be retained in backups for a limited period for legal and security reasons.

f. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information and terminate the child's account.

g. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Terms and Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
