Privacy Policy for FinMate

Effective Date: July 15, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how FinMate, developed by Deepak Rana (under the developer name Eleven Leaves), collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our mobile application.

Your privacy is important to us. We are committed to protecting your data and being transparent about our practices.

1. Information We Collect

To provide and improve our service, we collect the following types of information:

a) Information You Provide Directly:

  • Financial Data: This includes all transactions, budgets, bills, and categories you create within the app. This information is the core of the app's functionality and is stored locally on your device's private database. We do not have access to this data, and it is not uploaded to our servers.

b) Information for Google Services (Backup & Restore):

  • Google User Data: If you choose to use the Backup & Restore feature, we use Google Sign-In to authenticate your Google Account. We request permission to access a private, app-specific folder in your Google Drive (DRIVE_APPDATA). FinMate only has access to this folder and cannot see, access, or modify any other files or folders in your Google Drive. Your backup data is stored securely in this private folder, accessible only to you through the app. We use your Google email address only to display your signed-in status within the app.

c) Information Collected Automatically:

  • Usage Data (Analytics): We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous, aggregated data about how you interact with the app. This may include information like which features are used most often, screen views, and crash reports. This data helps us understand user behavior so we can improve the app's performance and user experience. This data is anonymized and cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Advertising ID: Our advertising partner, Google AdMob, uses your device's advertising ID to serve ads within the app. This ID helps in providing more relevant ads. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized advertising through your device's settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide Core App Functionality: Your local financial data is used to power the app's features, such as budgeting, expense tracking, and report generation.
  • To Enable Backup & Restore: Your Google account and Google Drive data are used exclusively to back up and restore your financial data at your request.
  • To Improve the App: Anonymous analytics data helps us identify bugs, understand which features are popular, and make informed decisions to enhance the app.
  • To Provide Push Notifications: We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send occasional notifications about important app updates or new features. This uses an anonymous device token and is not linked to your personal identity.
  • To Support the App with Ads: Advertising helps keep the core features of FinMate free.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Your privacy is paramount.

  • We do not sell, trade, or share your personal financial data with any third parties.
  • The only instances where data is shared is with trusted Google services as required for their functionality (Google Drive for backup, Google Analytics for usage stats, Google AdMob for ads), and this sharing is governed by their respective privacy policies.

4. Data Storage and Security

All of your personal financial data (transactions, budgets, bills) is stored locally and privately on your device. If you use the backup feature, a copy is stored in your private Google Drive folder, which we do not have access to. We take reasonable measures to ensure the app is secure, but please be aware that no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

5. Children's Privacy

FinMate is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy within the app or on our Play Store listing. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

7. Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please feel free to contact us.
