Terms of Service
1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the FinMate mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Use of the App
FinMate is a personal finance tracking tool designed to work entirely offline on your device. You are responsible for the accuracy of the financial data you enter. The App is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.
3. User-Generated Content
All financial data, including transactions, budgets, bills, client information, invoices, and vouchers that you enter into the App (“User Content”), is stored locally on your device. You are solely responsible for your User Content and for backing it up. The optional Google Drive Backup feature is provided for your convenience, but we are not responsible for any loss or corruption of your data.
4. In-App Rewards
The App may include a rewards system where you can earn virtual points for performing certain actions. These points have no real-world cash value and can only be used within the App to unlock features or themes as offered.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses third-party services for specific, optional features:
- Google Sign-In & Google Drive: Used for the optional backup and restore feature. Your use of these services is subject to Google’s own terms and policies.
- Google AdMob: The App displays advertisements to support its development. This service is governed by Google’s terms.
6. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The App is provided “as is” without any warranties. We do not guarantee the accuracy or reliability of any calculations. We are not liable for any financial decisions or losses you may incur from using the App. In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the App.
7. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms within the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
Privacy Policy
FinMate is built with a “privacy-first” approach. Our goal is to collect as little information about you as possible.
1. Data We Do NOT Collect
We want to be crystal clear: we do not have servers that collect, store, or process your personal financial data. All of the following information resides exclusively on your local device and is never sent to us or any third party (except when you optionally use the Google Drive Backup feature):
- Transactions
- Categories
- Bills
- Budgets
- Client and Invoice Information
- Voucher Information
2. Information We Collect and Why
a) Locally Stored Data
As mentioned above, all your core financial data is stored in a secure database on your device’s internal storage. We do not have access to this data.
b) Optional Google Drive Backup & Restore
This feature is entirely optional and must be initiated by you.
- What happens: When you choose to back up your data, the App securely authenticates with your Google Account and uploads a single backup file to a private, hidden “app data” folder in your own Google Drive. We, the developers of FinMate, do not have access to this folder or your file.
- What is backed up: The backup file contains your transactions, categories, bills, budgets, clients, invoices, and vouchers.
- Purpose: To allow you to restore your financial data on a new device or after reinstalling the App.
c) Advertising
To keep FinMate free, we display advertisements provided by Google AdMob.
- What data is used: Google and its partners may use your device’s Advertising ID to serve personalized ads. They may collect information such as your IP address, device type, and app usage data. We do not share any of your personal financial data from FinMate with our ad partners.
- Managing Ads: You can learn more about how Google uses information and how to control your ad experience by visiting Google’s Ad Technology page. You can also opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting the settings on your Android device.
3. Data Security
Since your sensitive data is stored locally, its security is directly tied to the security of your device. We recommend you use a secure lock screen (password, PIN, or biometric) to protect your device and your FinMate data.
4. Children’s Privacy
FinMate is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
